1st Blog EME
Hello! Welcome to my blog!
My name is Jessica Day and I am currently a student at FSU. I am studying english education and plan to finish my masters in four years and move on to getting my PhD after that! I am from Gainesville Florida and have lived there my whole life (until now). I have always known I wanted to be a teacher, but am still trying to decide what level I want to teach at. One thing to know about me is that I absolutely love music! And every genre of music as well! Other than that my interests include photography, traveling, and anything new and adventurous.
Despite using my phone every single day just as almost every other millennial, I have some experience in technology in an educational setting. Last year, I became certified in Microsoft word and Microsoft Powerpoint but I am not so proficient in Microsoft Excel. Overall, my educational background with technology mainly includes writing essays using Microsoft Word and your average presentation or group project on Microsoft powerpoint. I also work for the Student Government Association and sometimes use Word there.
I am extremely excited for this class and I am most looking forward to learning how technology is being used to make our education system stronger. This has recently been an intriguing subject for me because as a generation our attention spans are decreasing as we become increasingly dependent on technology. Teaching styles need to adapt to the upcoming generations who orbit around iPhones and have never known a world in which the answer to any question imaginable is at their fingertips. Overall, I hope to learn the skills necessary to make classes more interesting in order to create a generation who is as attentive to what they are learning as to what they are seeing on social media.

Woow!!! It looks like you are very into the academia world.
ReplyDeleteExcel is a tricky tool because we don't really use it very often but once you know it well, it can almost do anything related to numbers.
I am really glad that you are excited for this class and I am sure we are going to have some fun in this semester.
